What is the minimum keyword predict number you want to see to optimize for a potential keyword.

Many keywords have a high KEI, but low predict #'s on the most popular keyword software.

Optimize for any key phrase that is relevant to your site. Obviously, those keywords/phrases with a history of a lot of searches should be optimized for before any less searched terms.

My site has an 44,000 alexa rating and a 6 PRank. Most of my competition that is ranked above me in the search engines for the most competitive keywords have an 8PR. Can I top them with more keywords and better text links, or do I have to have a higher PR?

Should I focus on the less competitive keywords first, even though they have less traffic?

In our experience the more relevant question to ask is which keywords will generate the type of conversion activity you are looking to achieve from your SEM program The goal after all of search engine marketing is to either generate leads, build brand awareness or increase sales.

I would focus on optimizing the words that generate the type of action you want, not on whether they are competitive or not. If they are competitive and you simply can’t rank on them organically, think about adding these particular words to your PPC program. It’s good to remember that it's not about loads of traffic, it’s about getting people to do what you want when they get to your site. Keywords can be the best indication of the user’s intent.

Then after you have optimized these keywords concentrate on building up your PR with quality sites and keyword-rich link text.

Hope this helps a bit

If you are already on the first page in the SEs, then I would recommend you to concentrate on improving your title text to get highly targeted traffic. Alway mention your product/service benefits first and they attributes (if they are keywords you are targeting of course)

PR is only a matter of links and it does not mean that your competition is getting targeted traffic which is what we all want at the end. Also, lately Google seems to be giving less importance to PR as there are way too many link pirates around selling unworthy links. It appears that G is going now for what is called Latent Semantinc Indexing. [javelina.cet.middlebury.edu ]
