Ok..I have a new company that sells widgets. I want to create more pages for keyword listings to things similar to my widgets. So i make new pages customized for the keyword blue-widget, green-widget, and yellow-widget. All of these keywords get about 1-2k searches per month. My question is, for a new company, how many keywords should I try to hit?..the number of searches for the keywords is fairly small (500-2k/month per keyword) and the competition's pages are not very customized for the keywords. As a new business should I select only a few keywords (blue-widgets, green-widgets, and yellow-widgets)..or should I just make pages for all the keywords (blue-widgets, green-widgets, yellow-widgets, orange-widgets, black-widgets, brown-widgets..etc..)

hope this makes sense..thanks in adance!

If they are searched derivatives and you make pages for them, you will be glad you did. Just be careful how many times you repeat your certain keywords in the text links to those pages. IMHO.

awsome Jon thanks for the reply!..How many times to repeat do you think is to many? like blue-widget-account, green-widget-account, blue-widget-account..is the word "account" being used too many times here if its being used on 10 diff links?..thanks again!

A bunch of same tense snippets for link text are not the way to go in my experience. Mix it up. Think about ways to describe your 'stuff' (in your link text) which uses all the tenses without repeating too much.
