Number of keyword searches on Google?

Hi everyone, here is my first post!

I am researching a keyword phrase and have identifed 2000 searches made last month on Overture and using the 7search tool approximately returns 500. How is it possible to know the number of searches performed in Google for this keyword phrase? Can it be estimated from knowing the Overture results? The Google Traffic estimator is for PPC so not applicable I believe, or maybe I can estimate from that?

There's really no way to know for sure. Overture's numbers are good benchmark, but they are scewed by many factors. The only way you'll know for sure is by testing your self. Build a page around that KW phrase, link to it, wait for Google to pick it up, and watch your referral logs. Your log is your friend: ) And while you are waiting, create more pages. Don't get caught up on one phrase! For every one you find or think of, there are tens, hundreds, even thousands of variations that people are searching for.
