hi there i am new to web publishing n would like to know how to get my webpage appear on any search engine. Do i have to pay lets say yahoo for my site to be searched?

My first advice would be to begin reading the Search Engine World Forums [webmasterworld.com]. After that, there are many other things regarding search engine submission, search engine optimization, keyword search and selection, and more throughout the forums. Enjoy!
