Altavista free submit took 4 odd months?

I just had 360 pages recognised 4 months after submit!

I wondered when I submitted this site using the free AV submit box how long it might take and how AV might differentiate between free and paid entries ..now some 4 months or more (will have to check way back) 360 odd pages are finally showing ....

Anyone else have experience of how long AV takes to lift free submit pages from the mire?

I don't usually expect pages that I submit for free to be picked up any time soon, or to rank fantastically right away. But, I noticed this week that they are updating.......we got bumped to a #2 spot from below 50. Not bad! (now let's see if any traffic comes!)

It was from a little traffic I noticed the listing had changed .. looks interesting and hopeful. The first site I did AV was the main referrer but I guess that was back when they were the yahoo webpage searcher.

I think based on how long this took I probably still need to advise clients to pay for AV. Do you get much traffic from AV when you have paid?
