ZEUS helps build a directory on your site.

Does this work? I'm aware the SE's don't like link farms and from what I can see this is what ZEUS bulilds.

Hi feeder,

you will get varying opinions here regarding Zeus from thumbs up to thumbs down.

Basically it is a tool for finding sites that have a theme consitent with the criteria you enter into it and at that level it works very well.

I agree with you though that the link pages it generates automatically are not much chop and do tend to look like link farms. Whether they are perceived as such by the SEs is still open to debate. Try setting up your own direcotry pages using the information Zeus finds for you.

Like any tool, Zeus is open to abuse if you are not carefull. One big No No is to use the automatic email system. You will find if you do that your emails will get trached and/or you will get very angry replies.

Personally I like it but then I only use the spidering side of it to find what I want and then deal with the results manually. Be carefull how you use it and you shouldn't have any problems.

Zeus is a tool and if used in the hands of a skilled person it will do well for them.

I use Zeus to collect sites that are themed along the same lines as what I'm building. For this it does a remarkable job when you set it up right.

Under no circumstances will I use the default link pages...nor the default directory for that matter. It's no big thing to extract what you need from the pages Zeus creates however.

The thing I'm not convinced of yet is exactly how effective link directories really are at this point. I do know that I lost several positions in Fast to related sites that were indexed as a result of my link directory.

Can you expand on that a bit, toolman? How did you arrive at this conclusion?

Extremely obvious. The sites were related but not "on topic" about the keyword searched. They were the same titles and descriptions I chose them for...by keyword in title and description.

There were at least 6 instances where I saw a familiar site that was from the link directory on my site.

What does hockey have to do with real estate? Title and description...very Ink-ish.

I don't really care about Fast anyway.

You can do more for your link popularity in an hour by hand, than Zeus could do in a year.

"Just Do It" has a ring to it.

Zeus will dig up some good sites for you though...stuff you probably would never have found otherwise. Just don't depend on it to do all the work for you as far as getting recips.

But if you want to build a link directory to help Fast out...Zeus is the tool for the job.

It's about quality, not quantity. Zeus does good quantity and gets you into trouble. Your brain can find the quality and promote your site - zeus can't. Use the former, not the later.

Not to mention "some 'main' trouble" is you have to sort out manually a gigantic chunk of irrelevant results.

Go for main directories listings, it gets you there a lot faster.
