I have a site written in english language and I want to translate it in chinese. My problem is that I don't know what to do with the keywords and other stuff that the Search Engines will read in order to index my site. If I translate them too, Google will take consider those words or will ignore them? Is there anyone that had problems in a similar situation in the past?

I haven't translated into Chinese yet, but I have into many other languages. And yes, I translate everything technically allowable -- file names including image files, meta tag content, alt attributes and so on. It all gets picked up.
The reason I do this is twofold. First, it makes the site more appealing to the speaker of the other language. ANd second, I have observed other "half translated" sites doing poorly in the search results.

i think it depends from where you want your target audience to seach for your site, if the will use english or chinese for those keywords
