I've been very successful in optimizing static sites and getting page one results.
The dynamic sites of the hosting company's existing clients have been a challenge, though. However, there are many external factors in that challenge: poor design, horrible navigation, no inbound links, etc.
I've been handed the task of working on a site that's being built from scratch, which is good. The downside is that it's going to be a dynamic site, driven by a shopping cart backend program.
I'm doing all that I can to insist on some basics: title tags and h1 tags that I can edit, a navigation structure that's as straightforward as possible, tweaking the source code to make it search engine-friendly, etc.
Assuming that I do everything else properly, is there anything that can be done to make the on-page content as SE-friendly as possible?
Another question: do you feel (as I do) that static HTML pages have an inherent advantage over dynamic pages?

If you're referring to SEO/SEM advantages, no I don't think so at all, assuming that the links are clean with minimal or no special characters, and ideally, contain kw's.
The ability to rewrite URL's is a wonderful thing, but the larger and more complex the site, the harder it gets, at least in my experience.
