I have some questions of how should you promote an unknown artist (rockband).

Is there any known forum or directories that can do some work for them.
A forum on their page could be good if they are there and posting, but how do you get the people there?

I dont have no experience on this one, could anyone get me some advice? .

Pageone if i dont remember wrong you have been in the music business promoting.

I really need some help here.

Thanks
/Ove

There are places. But I can't say any more and can't say why I can't.

Was just going through MySpace the other day...saw a few self-made bands out there..

I guess, you should get into communities such as MySpace and upload your songs, find a few friends out there, get it through word-of-mouth

All this because you cant build a website and expect people to come from Search Engines..

I second myspace, go start a profile, a blog and join some music groups. Create a buzz with either good content or controvosy, either should get you traffic and exposure.

There are plenty of music communities, myspace is obv the daddy

You can also head over to [snip] and check out the member sites... JR is a script for hosting music communities and it also does a good job of giving you a 100 or so sites to submit your band to

I was in the industry myself up until recently... its hard I know, and networking is a bit of a catch 22, so until you get on the right side of the industry...

You should also look at offline promotion, like local press releases and radio... radio is a lot harder as the majors lock it down to a surprising level, press is more open

we had a few local press releases picked up by larger regional and national press, so dont think theres shame in starting so small... regional media checks out local media and you may well get picked up that way
