If suppose I use a translator software to convert all my pages to numerous other languages, will I be helping myself by getting more inbound links and visitors or will Google see me through it and see duplicate content pages and so make me suffer in the rankings?

i'd be very careful about using one of the online translators. most of it translates into sentences that do not make sense. we translated ours through one just to see what it was like and when our spanish girl read it she was in fits of laughter at what was said.

i would advise getting a proper translator to help with this.

I'm not sure about the duplicate bit though

If the words are in different languages, that is not duplicate content. Search engines do not index meaning, only character strings.

If you're really serious about marketing to areas that speak these other languages, you might consider getting country-specific TLDs and hosting your sites in those areas. Inbound links from other sites in the appropriate country can also be a big factor.

Yes Robert, that also remains an option. actually making it look like an entirely different website, though it is basically my very own site should be a nice way to get traffic as well as PR...

Thanks tedster; I guess I should now start out shifting some of my content to other languages as well gradually, since I'm now pretty convinced Google cant track me out as a duplicate content maker :)
