Less and less weekend traffic each week.

Precisely on saturdays

My websites statistics is showing a strange tendency. I have each traffic on saturday each time since like two months ago.
For example :
Saturday 22 April 2006 1423 (predicted)
Saturday 15 April 2006 1533
Saturday 8 April 2006 1682
Saturday 1 April 2006 1770
Saturday 25 March 2006 1817

Does anybody have similar behavior?

Yes, it's cause by two elusive phenomena called NICE WEATHER and PEOPLE HAVING A LIFE

I'll echo IncrediBILL's reply. The same phenomenon used to occur back in the days of proprietary online services like GENie, Delphi, and CompuServe. Given a choice between browsing, barbecuing, or the beach, most users will pick option 2 or 3.

Well, I have a site about career change and every day is good for me. Probably my visitors don't have exactly a life.

It is simple. Schools are closed, most offices are closed. Only people who stay home surf the net on weekends, so that is why there is a large difference between M-F vs Sat-Sun.

One thing I've noticed over the years is that traffic may be down on weekends, but affiliate revenue (in proportion to traffic, and sometimes in real numbers) can increase--at least on a travel site like mine. I'm guessing it's because people research their vacations during the week (possibly at work), then sit down with their spouses or significant others on the weekend to make decisions and book travel. Thursdays also tend to be very strong in terms of affiliate revenue, even though traffic isn't as high as it is earlier in the week (when AdSense revenue is likely to be higher).

The Web--and consumers--work in mysterious ways. :-)

I find that having multiple sites helps alleviate this problem. In my case, for instance, health care is best M-F; real estate does well F-Sun.

The answer is simple, Doctor Who season two (or 28 depending how you count) started ;)

True.

Finding a holiday angle appropriate for existing sites can work, too. It's a bummer to watch holidays suck the air out of traffic, so I've had some success inserting articles that cover various holiday themes that do well when other pages are depressed.
