hello,

we are launching a dynamic websie (mysql based) running on a common forum software app.

for future of website, I have couple of questions, would this be a wise decision to include the topic title in the URL?

What will be the benefits of same.
Will there be any problem in future?
or
Keeping the entire forum/topic url like webmasterworld.com?

thanks.

Include the topic title in the URL?

I wouldn't recommend it. I'd follow WebmasterWorld's lead. You'll have enough meat and potatoes content from the forum topics where stuffing keywords in the URI probably won't be of much benefit. In fact, those URIs will get downright ugly and present some usability issues.

I'd also keep the URIs short and sweet just as you see them at WebmasterWorld. One, two levels deep at most for primary content.

Make sure that every page has a unique title and meta description.

Make sure that there is only one URL that can be used to access each page of content.

Make sure that all admin, and private pages, and newpost, and new reply, and login, and sendPM, and suchlike, pages all have a <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> tag on them too.

There is a longer post on this topic somewhere hereabouts; last week I think it was...
