I created a finance niche site, it has 100 pages of content.

Should my first step be submitting it to as many directories as possible?

my site's url is the keyword i'm targeting. ie my-site-etc.com When I submit to directories should I use this keyword as the anchor?

I heard google bans sites for doing this.

But I also heard google doesnt mark you down for anything someone else could do to you. that is conceivably your competition could re-use that anchor text over and over in link submissions.

anything besides directories I should focus on?

Hi solobrian,

I would work on building more content and getting inbound links.

Good luck with your site.

If it's a new domain, you will be better of focusing on MSN and Yahoo for traffic. Keep bulding content and inbound links and don't get frustrated, it takes time.

Keyword phrases are not a problem.
