Disappointing...

For the past two months, my Alexa rankings have gone up. My Google ranking has remained the same over a six month time period, and I've gained more quality inbound links in the past two months.

Yet today, I noticed that my pagerank has dropped according to Google and other sources.

*sigh*

It means nothing. Traffic means everything. Quality traffic means more :).

So:

1) Stop thinking about all that Page Rank.
2) Stop thinking about alexa rankings.
3) build more content.
4) make your site the best in its market.
5) build more content.
6) Stop worrying about links to much, you will get loads after you start working on your site more. Make it so that people will enjoy going back to your site, makr it so that people think "oh, damn thats good info - I'll just link to it right now.. or mention it in my blog!"
7) Think about building more content.
8) Maybe have some latest news section, and website news.
9) Forget Page Rank.
10) I dont really have 10 I just wanted to give you 10 points!

Point well taken, but I've been doing all of those things for the past six months.

I run an online magazine, so I add fresh content daily. The site is full of content and pretty popular.

Don't usually pay attention to PR, but happen to notice it today.

Yeah it can be hard not to look at PR, and there's nothing wrong with looking at it, but rj87uk's advice is spot on. Keeping the focus on the site and the rankings and the marketing opportunities you may be missing. That is what will keep your site healthy and growing.
