3rd part hosting of video files: SERP affected?

To save on bandwidth costs I was thinking of hosting my videos on mpeg nation or Google video and just linking to them from my site instead of hosting them on my own server.

Do you think it will affect my search engine ranking position (especially Google) if the videos themselves are not on my own site?

Hi Nick.Don't worry, this is absolutely unrelevant for your ranking.I come from the same situation:In order to avoid bandwidth saturation and to keep more disk space on my own server,I linked some video from another server.It works fine and Google is happy ;-).

I'm intrigued by the idea, though. I have a friend who just put up a video on a cheap hosting account and the video performance is terrible. Does Google Video actually let you just put your video up on Google and link right to the video file from your own site, or do you need to jump over to Google video to play it? (I'm being lazy here... I haven't checked.)

As MPEG Nation is a paid service I'm hoping the performance isn't too bad. I'll dip my toe in gently.

Yes, Google Video lets you embed the video on your site. There's a "put on site" link on the right of their pages.

Other good quality video host suggestions would be most welcome.
