I am online retailer. I am thinking of using a sub-domain with an important keyword. Will this help much in rankings and will SE index the sub-domain as a new site?
I use sub-domains (canonicals for those who know me) exclusively in how I set up my domains and have been quite successful in both getting them indexed and ranked. They’ve added tremendous value to my link strategies. They help me stay on theme, which is also crucial to my strategies. Good luck.
Do I have to resubmit each sub-domain name individualy to SE?
I am already in Yahoo would be able to get listed as a new site in Yahoo? I could try but it will cost moeny and I want to be sure.
BTW do you think it is a good idea using images from my current domain?
Thanks in advance.
Each page of my site works off a template I’ve created for layout although each page offers completely different, themed content for that page. They each have the main image as well. I use absolute links to access these from a main image file. I’ve not had any problem with any of this.
As to submitting it, I’ve submitted each page to Position Tech for Inktomi (this is not the hub for some who will wonder, that has not yet been but will follow this same pattern when it’s ready). I only have the main www page in Yahoo, ODP, AND Looksmart but I’m considering more submissions to Looksmart. I haven’t decided yet on Yahoo. Maybe someone here could share his or her advice with that.
I do find hubs/portals/vortals that compliment the theme of the page and submit them individually based on their theme. As each of my canonicals has a complimentary link page I then find link partners that suit the theme of canonical and link there and not just to the main www page. I think you really want to support the entire system with a balance of incoming and outgoing links.
