How are Iframes indexed?

Someone sent me a link to an iframe page which is pulling in one of their advertiser's webpages. The iframe page has full keywords title and description taken from from the advertiser's page. The site developer thinks that they are ranking from the content of the advertiser's page.

-Will the source page be indexed with any credit going to the iframe site?
-How will the metatags be viewed since they relate to content on the other site?
-Is there any risk in trying to tie the two pages together in this way?

Thank you.

As far as I know, nothing has changed from the two threads you referenced. An iframed page is indexed like any other stand-alone page and picks up nothing "extra" from being in an iframe. And the page that holds the iframe picks up nothing extra from the page in the iframe.

If the main page has a link to the iframed page, then it gets some influence in the same way that outbound links influence any page.

Whatever resides inbetween the opening <iframe> and closing </iframe> is what gets indexed. Not the page URI that the <iframe> is referencing.

<iframe>The content here is what gets indexed.</iframe>
