Hey guys:)

I've read that you should only place a link to your sitemap on your index page for better results.
I have also read that you should place a link to the sitemap on all of a websites pages.

Which method is better?

Will placing a link only on the main index page be better for rankings?

Thanks guys for your help:)
I appreciate your help.

The point of a sitemap from an optimization perspective is primarily to help ensure that the SE's find all your pages, and secondarily to help any users that may be interested in seeing a snapshot of what the site offers.

Since SE's are most likely to find the links/pages directly off your homepage, and users too for that matter, the homepage is the most often the best place to start.

After that, there are two reasons, IMO, to link to the sitemap from more/all pages:
1) you want the sitemap to have greater importance than it would if linked from just the homepage (read, better rankings), and,
2) you want to increase the opportunity for visitors to find the sitemap, from any page they may be visiting...which depending upon how your site nav is structured, and the goals of your site, may or may not be a good idea.

Your call. :)
