Are internal links even significant anymore?

And if so, do the menu bars in your CMS count? I'm using Joomla.

Let's say I add a menu item for each article so from each page, a link to most other pages is visible. Does this count as internal linking? Or do I need to ad links inside the actual article as well?

Me using Joomla either.However,it's cool -- easy to install & use.The banner rotator' cool....

Well,I don't do that even I can make that happen so easily but I will never.Cuz this will make visitors uncomfortable -- a site filled with ads?

I do only let them stay at the places they should be...
