Newbies (like I was once) might appreciate more detailed links definitions:
For me, a backlink is simply an incoming link, i.e. a link from somebody else's site in to yours or mine.
An 'outgoing' link would be if you link to somebody else.
A mutual or swapped or traded link, in when you trade links, one in one out.
A phony link is one that gets the visitor to your site, but in such a way that
it is not counted by the search engines. These often involve .php devices, though there are others.
NEVER link back to a bogus link of this kind
A Romulan link, (there are many names for this) is like a 2 headed turkey.
Lets say your page has a URL like yoursite.com.
An R-link might be yoursitecom (no dot)
-or- www.yoursite.con (n instead of m) etc.
I see lots of 404 errors because somebody in the far
East, (in a country which rhymes with China)
cannot yet parse upper case English characters.
Finally there is the null link. The one you simply refuse to give, or to accept.
I hope I made some sense, and that good beer has not gotten the best of me. -Larry
