Hi,

Should my site use relative rather than absolute links or doesn't it matter?

Currently I have the full url on every link i.e. [domain.com...]

Also does Google prefer .html .htm .asp or again does this not really matter?

I'm rebuilding my site this week and would like to know before I get underway.

Thanks

too much information

Absolute vs. relative links won't make a difference to Google, but it will help you to use relative links if you ever want to change your domain name, or your file structure. To me it's easier to be relative.

As far as your file extensions, those don't matter either. The bots just need to find your page, index it and that's it. They could care less what the extension is.

Good luck with the redesign, I'm starting on the same thing this week and I hope to be done by January 1st!

I would recommend absolute links as they are preferred by Google. GoogleGuy offers some other advice you might want to check out at this post [webmasterworld.com...]
