will traffic exchange links give me problems

I found that some members of my site have joined traffic exchanges to receive more traffic to their pages or stores located on my site.

will this give me problems in the future. What can I do to get rid of this traffic?

Seems like the simple answer is, make 'em stop. But I get the feeling that's not possible?

If it isn't, and the exchanges are with bad neighborhoods, you've got a problem. The SE's can't control who links to you, and so they try not to hold such things against you.

Who you link to is another matter.
