Any thoughts on this (I keep banging on about Canonical urls) but it could be something else I guess!
Post 7 of the following thread basically might explain what you need to know:-
[webmasterworld.com...]
There are also lots of threads at WebmasterWorld about Canonical urls:-
[google.com...]
Just some thoughts, FWIW.
PS, stevelibby per the other questions above, are both of the homepage and subpage listings with (or without) the "www.", or does one have "www." and the other not?
Looking at your search results, do you see:
www.subpage.com
--> homepage.com
subpage.com
--> www.homepage.com
www.subpage.com
--> www.homepage.com
subpage.com
--> homepage.com
The first two examples are bad because they show that the SE's have indexed two versions of your pages.
The second two are good because they suggest that your site has been set up properly, (hopefully) using only one version (www or non-www) and redirecting the other version to your preferred version.
Also, you said you were searching for your domain. What format are you using when searching on your domain? with http? with www? or just the domain name?
