More internal links better or worst?

How are your own links helping you when your site grows.

Can someone tell by experience or comment about if having more internal links benefits your site or not?

Scenario: my index pr 5 page has 10 links to internal pages all theme related. Thus my internal pages receive some of that pr.

If I add some 90 internal pages and therefore I grow in internal links amount and my index have now 100 links to internal pages, won't my internal pages receive less pr than before? (pr5/100 is less than pr5/10)

Is that a destructive technique or is it good because it means your website is growing in pages amount?

I see big sites ranking ok so I don't know what to think.

I always prefer my sites having more oustide inbound links that internal links. If you have a 100 page site, you should be able to get more than 100 oustide inbound links.

Is there any reason that supports that thought or it's just your impression? Any other comments?

I have more incoming links from other sites than internal. Is it time to put more internal and pages to grow?

Having good navigation in the form of well-thought-out internal links can help you retain traffic. That way if they're not interested in the first of your pages you see, or are done reading it, they're more likely to visit more of your site.

I think that would help your positioning as these visitors would be more likely to link more of your pages. This has been my experience - everything I've done to improve my navigation has benefited me.

But I can't comment either way on how internal links would affect your site directly.

Thanks! Regardless the effect on users in your site, the primary concern is what about pr disolution on more pages. Anybody?
