Is linking to a false store harnful

I had a request to link to another store. When I looked at the site I found that it consisted only of 1 related article for each different store category and adds by google that related to the category that you just click on.

The store has no products whatever only google adds to click on.

Surely it would be foolish for me to link with them.

What you're referring to is a borderline site - built with minimal effort - for no other reason than to capture Adsense revenues. They're quite common these days.

I would not link to them, certainly not with any site I cared about. Who you link to matters in the eyes of the search engines.
