Hi:)

I recently read about "splitting pr"(page rank) and i read that you only get credit for links that an engine lists you as. The specific version of the link is either "www" or "domain.com".

So my questions are:

Q.1. If i use the "www" for linking, should i tell the site owner to link using this exact code:

<a href="http://www.widget.com/index.html">widget</a>

Q.2. Should the code **include** the "http://www" in the code like in the above example?

Q.3. Also i'm not totally sure, but how will i know
if i should use "www" or domain.com for linking?

Q.4. Will looking at what shows up in the address bar be the version i should ask to be linked to with?

*Please answer each question:)
Thank you to all who respond:)

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. You can use whichever you prefer. Think about what your audience is most likely to default to and go with this. For most, this is www.
4. Whichever you type in or click on a link to will show up, so this question is a bit like which came first, the chicken (address shown) or the egg (link).
5. You forgot to ask "how do I deal with those links that do it the other way?" A). You can ask them to change, but this often isn't practical, so it is recommended to permanently redirect one version to the other. i.e. redirect [site.com...] to [site.com....]
