Hi all, i am a new user so please bare with me and be friendly :)

I have a fairly recently opened site. I notice that the main page www.yourdomain.com is indexed in the search engines, google yahoo etc but the content pages which are listed on the main page do not appear to be indexed. Why would this be and what could i do to get them to show up? Thanks in advance for your time and help.

narsticle,

I have the same exact question. I recently submitted my sites to yahoo and google. I do see my main page cached/indexed, but the content within my site is not cataloged by those engines.

I made sure my robots.txt file didn't disallow any subdirectories that the engines needed to crawl.

I'm scratching my head too.

Much appreciated if any experienced individuals can help us newbies out. :-)

thanks!

A new site can sometimes take awhile before it's indexed beyond the home page. Give it some time. Add a site map to the home page (it makes it easier for your site to be indexed), update your content regularly (if relevant), keep adding quality optimized pages, submit to directories (and if possible also submit deep linked pages to the directories), obtain quality relevant backlinks and wait. In time your site will be indexed. It is unfortunate, but new sites kind of get the cold shoulder at the beginning. You can also do a search on the sandbox theory for more info on what can happen to new sites.
