1) I have several pages I'm hosting, and have listed them on several search engines. I've seen in the log files on my server that they're being index/etc by Yahoo and MSN, but when I search on those search engines using the keywords in my META tags, I don't get my site coming back. What do I need to do differently?
2) How can I generate more traffic to my sites?
3) I've noticed that most of the traffic to most of my sites seems to be coming from a state where we don't even operate. About 80% of it in fact. It seems to be mostly AOL traffic, as far as I can tell, but still, its a bit weird. Any ideas on why this would be?
Thanks,
Steve
I'll try to answer you:
1) Your log say you that spiders visited your site but this doesn't mean that you're in top results.
They simply indexed you,but you may be 1,000°!...
Moreover the tendence of SEs is to pay attention to the text keywords instead that meta tag keywords,so you should try with a keyword included in the text...
You have to wait, improving in the same time various parameters in order to increase your ranking such as to get good inbound links...
2) This is the $1,000,000 question:
Increase the traffic is a complex question that cannot be exhausted in a thread and that requires experience and knowledge of the basic SEO at least and that is different for each web site due to different product/argument that deal in and to the different public to target...
3) It's hard to give you accurate explainations without more details.
