Promotion Travel Site in Russia

Hello world, i build my travel site in Russian Domain Region. And i need some advices about it's promotion in a Search Engines.
Google is not wide spread in our Country. But i like to hear any general solutions about promoting the site?

What is the market you are trying to get? Is the site made for internal tourism for russians? Is the site made for english speaking foreigners?

Depending on who you are targetting, you could probable setup link exchanges with websites that have traffic similar to the population you are after. PPC campaigns can be Geo targetted to the area you would like to get visitors from.

This is a site for russian tourist. It would be like information portal where tourfirms can place their advertising messages. Users can find out many information about other countries there they can spend vacations.
I think in a start this site would be only on russian language.
Where i should start?

From what you say, furst I would do a Mod rewrite of the tourism firms section so that it is crawlable by the SE. Then, I would build the traffic with some PPC advertising from Adwords and Overture, while at the same time exchanging links with other websites and using your key phrase as the link provided.

By this, I mean that you can go to widgets.com and ask them to put you link up. Your link should say something like "Come visit mysite.com here you can find [link: mycity travel] information.

By creating the link to your target key phrase, SEs will associate that key phrase with your site and rank you higher at it.
