Hits from Keywords

I have a question for you guys.

My site is about 150 pages and is an online magazine for an industry.

The site gets about 2,000 to 2,500 unique visitors per day, and about 1,000 of them are from search engines.

However, the most successful keyword gets about 100 hits. Then, the name of my site, another 40 hits. The rest is mish mosh.

My site is also about 3 years old.

Should I be having more successful keywords? Are my numbers average, or does it mean my pages are not optimized enough?

Every site is different but getting 10% of your search engine traffic from one keyword sounds okay to me. One of my sites receives traffic from around 1,000 different phrases each month - and it is not even that big really.

How do you know what percentage comes from which keywords?

You need to put your log files through a log analyzer. This will give you all the figures about your site's traffic.

I know from my statistics program.

To expand on my question, I am only getting about a dozen multiple keyword hits.

Should I be having more, less or is this average?
