We're thinking about putting up a few 1-page minisites that point to our main site...

-- only a handful of them
-- no interlinking, just pointed at the main site
-- with unique content
-- hosted separately
-- but with the main site's design and nav, so the user shouldn't notice he's moved from one site to another

We're really just taking advantage of the keywords in the mini-sites' URLs, and of the 'votes' for our main site.

I have serious doubts of the real value of this, because how much PageRank can a one-page site get, anyway? So is there any point? Is there anything I can do to make it worthwhile or is it just a silly idea? :)

Questions of actual value aside, is this considered SEO spamming? Would any of the search engines bother to ban our main site for this?

Thank you very much for any and all replies :)

I fail to see the point in such an arrangement. Why would other webmasters want to link to those mini-sites? And if other people do not link to them they can only gain their rankings through links from your own main website which in the eyes of the search engines effectively will make them parts of your main site in spite of having other domains.

Yeah, I think I've decided to can the idea (it was my boss's idea based on something an SEO firm tried to sell him). Thanks for your response!
