Hi All,

I have a small website of mine, which I started out as a hobby. I have the log file analyze set up which gives me all the info.

Now, something I noticed is that I see about 5 hits from the domain splatsearch.com (This is another SE)

I see that I get about 5 unique visitors from this site almost every other day. So i went to this site to see what keywords they are using. (My log files are not capturing the keywords used from this SE', but it does capture other keywords/phrases that users use from Google/MSN/Yahoo, So I believe that my log files are working fine)

The problem is: I want to know what keywords are driving visitors to my site.

My efforts: Log files give me just the # of unique visitors from this site and nothing more.
I tried various keywords that I used in my meta tags, but they do not bring up my site.
Worse, I type my website title and even that doesnt bring me any searches.

What is going on here? Any ideas?

Usually your logfile should monitor the referrer along with the parameters. So for visitors coming from Google, you should see something like
www.google.com/?q=widget
in your logs. For this "splatsearch", the parameter is "searchstring=".

If this is not the case in your logs, maybe you need to enable referrer logging.

Maybe you could check out the third party tracking software. In our office we use Phpmyvisites. Its a freeware that allows you to track visitors, the location of people where you get the visits(countries),referrers(search engine, direct, other sites) ,keywords etc.

I think you guys have missed something. His log files are capturing the keywords used by Google and other search engines so there is no problem. This could be a case of referrer spam.
