Hi All!

Basically im a newbie! I have been working for a company as there E-commerce manager and recently resigned. I have been approached by several potential customers asking for my services and im in limbo what to charge.

For this particular client i will be taking care of his General Branding and SEM. The site is in the top 3 of G's SERPS and has been optimized well. He gets a considerable amount of traffic but would like to generate a further income by becoming an Affiliate. He has asked me to.......

1.) Source a suitable Affiliate Program and Implement it
2.) Set up an Adwords account and maintain it with monthly reports
3.) Monthly reporting on ranking across the various SE's
4.) Newsletters/Press Releases

On top of this he wants me to keep on the Ball with the ever changing rules of SEM and maintain his position in the SE's whilst developing the site.

As this is not my Bread & Butter the Hours i have to spend on this daily is minimum so i was thinking of charging at an Hourly rate!

Is this the way to charge him?

I was hoping that some of you guys could give me a ball park figure of what im doing is worth per hour and what i should charge him. Bearing in mind this is a small to medium business and not a big player. Also the business is based in Thailand and everything here is alot cheaper than in the UK or the USA.

Thanks in advance for Helping me Guys!

Oh! and one more thing. Has anyone used web CEO and if so is it worthwhile? Maybe u can suggest some alternatives with a proven track record!

Hi delegate,

the trick is not to feel robbed by the workload / job.

Charging is scalable. how competent are you going to be realistically? if its not your bread and butter then if its a reasonable size marketplace then a decision needs to be made between them affording you a new car or a new widescreen plasma screen (based on one years money).

Welcome to WW :)

I use WebCEO, mostly for rank checking, but the jury is still out...

Check Ranking:
- I had to jump thru some hoops to split up my hefty number of keywords just so I dont have to check them all at once, it would take days. It also seems to be a bit buggy and has skipped a keyword in the top 20 for several scans in a row that I could see with a manual search. If it shows a keyword "not found" that was previously there you always have to manually double check those, it can't be trusted.

SEO Optimization:
- the SEO suggestions always says the same old thing, over and over, I didnt find it useful at all as it was telling me to fix top 10 ranked pages with useless suggestions

Keyword Research
- The keyword research tool, BAH! It hangs when I try to research certain keywords and I think Google AdWords gives better keyword information.

Works well enough I still use it, has enough quirks I could scream.

Thanks for the info Bill!

I agree with the optimization tool its useless but the rank tool i was impressed with! Just a bit worried about these programs and getting penalised by G, but from what ive learnt from WW so far it aint noticeable unless used excessively.

Are you still using the free version or have you upgraded?

Yes, I bought the full version, and I must say as much as it frustrates me it has been worth every penny in helping me track my sites progress.
