i have read up on keyword strategy. I myself and a new webmaster and Im trying to think of a twist on getting traffic with keywords. Has anyone intentionally put in mispelled keywords in their html to get hits? for example if you sell "golf clubs" and you are competing against 5 thousand other webstores what if you use "golf clugs" as it is typed about 1,000 times a day. i need help!

I have and still do the mispelled keyword thing. It does work, but like any other web advertising strategy it is losing its effect rapidly, because right now it's no longer a secret strategy, it's wide spread.

I wouldn't use too man misspelled words on your main pages. If you want to target keyword spelling combinations I would build separate pages that are linked from a site map. That way legit users enter and aren't thinking you are just plain dumb....even though they were the ones to type it wrong in the first place.

I think it is a good idea, but definitely target the correct spelling for your main pages.

Anyway keep on mind the "did you mean keywork" feature of the SEs now... the most of them I think will try to correct the user and it is the first link the users are looking at the very top of the SERPS .. so, put your self in the user's chair ... what would you do when you entered a typo and the SE is presenting you the option to repeat the search using the same and 'right' sentence?

I actually created one ridiculous page optimized just for misspellings. The text is about all the ways my targeted keyword can be misspelled, ie:
'Any way you spell (or misspell) it, whether it be wudget, wedgette, woogit or wutchit, Acme Widgets makes the best widgets in the trade...
