I've been reading the forums at Webmasterworld for some time now and would like to thank every single one of you who commented, recommended, notified, complained or was happy about anything to do with Google search results.

Diversification of Traffic sources is what I would like to bring up. Everyone mentions it, don't "put your eggs in one basket". Go for Yahoo, go for MSN, optimise for Google. That's great, but when you are on page 1 in Google, it does not mean you are on page one in Yahoo or MSN. So to that extent, diversification on those 3 SEs is a bit of a problem or shall we say a Catch-22.

So how else do you diversify? Links? PPC? Articles? Come on, we all know those, give us the real juice with some detail preferably for those of us looking to diversify.

Thanks for all your replies in advance.

Diversification is obviously a good thing which is why many people on these boards advocate the idea.
The downside however is that in many areas Google's dominance is so great that it is practically worthless.
All my sites rank either #1 or top 5 in all major search engines but 97% of search engine referals come from Google!

The reality is that in my area if you do not rank in Google then you may as well not be on the internet, unless you have a huge advertising budget of course.
