That "Made in Brazil" defacement is growing - fallout from their keylogger I think - seorank is a Mac box for those keeping count.

Impossible. Only Windows boxes get hacked. Right?

Why do all these teenage latin hackers have to torment us with their adolescent nirvanistic socialist drivel? The swines also got into one of our 3rd party hosted sites, very annoying.

Same reason the ones from any other country do it - because they can.

If you look at this Security Focus page [securityfocus.com], there were 80 vulnerabilities announced between February 1st 2005 and February 4th 2005. 80! So, take your pick: the phpMyAdmin one, the Squid proxy one, etc. (both of those are remotely-exploitable, cross-site scripting problems which could have been used to do this). Or was it that even older Awstats one which was reputed to have been used against phpBB?

If you're running a dedicated server, you should be connecting to your vendor regularly (several times a day: do a cron job) to make sure you are getting the latest patches as soon as possible. If you're on a shared or managed server, ask your hosting company what their policies are.
