Hello

I'm interested in creating some sites specifically aimed at the UK market and with the intention of bringing in UK search engine visitors from Google, Yahoo...etc.

I've been playing around with the Google "Search Only Sites In The UK" option and trying to see a pattern with the sites it returns.

I would imagine that first of all - domains with the co.uk extension would get higher priority than others in this case?

And would domains actually physically hosted in the UK get even more preference? Would a unique UK IP for the domain also help?

Just as an example - the top 10 results in Google "just in the UK" for "credit cards" returns a number of varied .com, co.uk domains ... and sites hosted in the UK, US and Germany.

I'm failing to see a pattern at the moment.

Any pointers in this matter would be very gratefully received.

Thank you.

There are a lot of threads on this - some very recent. Here's one: [webmasterworld.com...]

And here's another from the UK forum:
[webmasterworld.com...]

Welcome to Webmasterworld, by the way. You'll find the site search here is quite poor. Best is to use your favourite search engine and limit it to site:webmasterworld.com

I'll take a look at those. Thank you very much.
