A little backstory before I get to the question:
I have a site that is rather large.
I spent a long time trying to make the forums SE friendly. I successed and now if you ever search for any inane drama, teen angst, various sexual positions or other unmarketable terms you most likely will find my popular forum.
Then I thought content would help. So I set up an article section which I lazily filled with every free bit of info I could. 2/3rds of the articles are off the sites topic and very general and nearly copied verbatim from the source ( legally though I am not a thief ).
Of course that was a bust.
Then I found WW and read the 26 steps and had some minor success on some usable article pages.

The question:
My site is indexed 100% 8-10 thousand pages. Of that most of it is forum junk and bad articles.
Should I:
Block the bots from the forums or at least the frivolous ones?
Delete the articles that are copied even though they are indexed?
As an option to deleting the articles should I use them as a base to start crosslinking to related articles I write?
