how to promote

Hello all,

I'm new here. I recently launched a job board for a specific niche of professionals. I advertised and had my board listed on several directories, therefore this helped me alot with the search engines ranking (google, yahoo, netscape and altavista) on keywords related to our board.

I also done some offline advertisements for example contacting friends who know people who work in this field to have them post their resume on the board and or to have their companies post jobs on our board.

But other than that I am not too sure where to go from here. I thought about doing some email marketing (one on one emails to companies and not mass/bulk marketing because I'm firmly against it) .

But the problem is that I still feel unconfortable with the idea of contacting a company through an online email form on their website or to call them. I'm not sure how they would react to it or would be happy about it. But we do offer a free trial period where they can post a certain number of job postings for free which might interest them...

I don't know. Can anyone provide me with some input on what could be a good way to approach this type of marketing? Especially people who have experience in the job board market.

Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld marianne32 :)

Bottom line is that if they don't know about your offer, they won't be able to take advantage of it. So you will have to contact them one way or the other!

Have you considered going to a networking group (like BNI or the local Chamber of Commerce)? This will give you a chance to present to potential clients in a more friendly environment and get some early feedback.

Hi StoreyValley!

Thanks for your response.

Yeah, I know. You are right. They need to find out about this offer. And worst case is that they will not respond! ;-)

I will also try to look into the business networking group idea too.

Thanks alot for the great input. ;-)

No worries Marianne :)

I will also try to look into the business networking group idea too.

Nice thing about this is that you get to watch people's faces when you present your offer. That can tell you instantly whether you are pressing the right buttons.

Networking groups are also great places to look for business allies ;)

Good luck!
