How is my site ranking so high for some terms?

I've really learned a lot since I started logging and checking my referers each day. One thing I've found is that I'm ranking really high in search results for certain terms (in the case I'm thinking of right now, a manufacturer of women's swimwear which leads to one mention on one page of my site).

I don't understand how I'm ranking so high when (a) my site is only a few months old, (b) the term in question is mentioned once on the site and all that is is a link to the company that makes the product in question, (c) there are 27,000 other listings for this term and (d) my site itself is a general-interest website with no overriding theme that might get me a good ranking in any search engine (the home page itself is only PR4 on Google, for example).

I know it's impossible to say why this is happening and for this site in particular it's not so important but I'm stumped as to why search engines are listing me so high for terms that are on a lot of other sites.
