hey guys, this is my second post here, since I've only been into seo for about 2-3 weeks. I run the site [BarMitzvahNY.com...] , which is a Bar Mitzvah planning resource in New York. I've been trying to crack into the search engines recently with mixed results, and thus have been reading as much as I can, and picked up a copy of WPG (i've heard and good and bad about it, but the page critic seems fairly useful). Search engines seem pretty crazy to me: my first day at lycos, i was #9 for my keyword bar mitzvah planning, and dropped to #21 the next day and up to #16 a week later without changing anything. Anyway, one question:
1) Do you recommend naming pages on the site with keywords? For example, one page on my site lists bar mitzvah bands and djs, and is currently named band.html. I am considering changing it to bar_mitzvah_djs.html since bar mitzvah djs is my top keyword for that page. Is it advisable to change all pages on my site in this fashion, or will such keyword loading result in a spam ban?
2)

Hi Justin, welcome to the boards! You landed in the right place.

The only risk you run with the approach you mention is if those pages are currently pulling in any traffic with the SEs. If they aren't, I would go ahead and change them. If you do, I would go ahead and keep them live for a couple of months, just in case Google got them (you can always put up a redirect to the new page also). You may want to consider making a sub directory 'bar_mitzvah' and then pages with extensions like djs.html and so forth. For a great strategy on how to structure your site, I would take a look through this thread [webmasterworld.com...] . Also, link all your pages using text links with keywords in them. Give good content on each page mixing in keywords and you are on your way.
