Unique IP's

Is a site penalized for having similar ip addresses?

I am curious...I own a number of sites that have similar design but different content. They are all on the same server and only differ in the last 3 numbers of the ip address. (for example...)
aaa.bbb.ccc.011
aaa.bbb.ccc.113
aaa.bbb.ccd.047
aaa.bbb.ccd.126

If I link to another site will that harm them? (will people view it as a doorway pages) Am I likely to be harmed by this?

Help me...

Your question probably refers to the concepts in the Hilltop Algorithm (see [cs.toronto.edu...] to learn more) - and according to that approach such links would be devalued a bit compared to other links. But that's not the same thing as actually hurting the target site.

I do see some suggestive evidence that "Hilltop-like" elements are being used these days by the major search engines. But it looks like just a touch, and it certainly takes more than inbound links from the same C-block to hurt a website.
