When you link to a site though, how long does it normally take for that link to show up in a linkdomain:www.somesite.com search?

Hmmmm...for some reason I don't see matches for ANY site when I do this on google. Hmm...let me try again.

You could also try +www.yourdomain.com and see the links.

On Google use:
link:domain
eg:
link:www.mysite.com

Google actually masks most links (most pages under PR4 will not show up). Yahoo is much more comprehensive for links with their search. You'd be better off seeing who links to your site by using Yahoo (i.e. you'll probably see almost every link instead of just a few).

I like to search Google for www.sitename.tld and then follow the "show pages hat include the words..." link.
I find alot of backlinks there that do not show up when I do other seacrhes for backlinks. YMMV
