About a year ago me and my friend started a search engine submission service and I was really amazed that so many webmasters are still paying to get in the search engines.

Don't webmasters know that you can get in free in the important search engines? Do you pay to get in and if so why?

Hi robotsdobetter,

I totally agree with your point of why are they paying to get listed in Search Engines.

But may be they are paying just to get a place in all the search engines as there are new search engines and search feeds coming up everyday on a regular basis

some people just dont know how to do it, its not their fault, and most of the people on here wont tell you the important stuff so how are you supposed to learn?

tessie: I'm new to this whole thing to, and all I did was go to the individual search engines and look around for info on how to get included.

Then, when you can't think of any more engines to submit your site to, do a search. You'll find more search engines and can start the cycle over.

It's really not that hard. There is an art to it and it takes time, but it doesn't have to be that difficult.

How many search engine submissions is enough to get your PR up?

If you're new to this, then you have to understand how many submissions will make a true impact on your site traffic.

I think that around 100 submissions will do the trick, but some don't have that much time.

Submitting is a useless exercise, and will not help your site.

Just create quality pages, and they will find you.

exactly, one says submit someone else says its pointless, we submit a lot! probably more than we should, we make them rich in content and only some get in the top 10, i've done plenty of research, you just get the same stuff and then something to totally disagree with it

Hi Shak,
Do you think is it necessary to pay $#*$! to get listed in 8135 search engines when there are just few search engines which have importance in the present scenario of search engine optimization world

Teesside: I completely understand where your coming from, back when I first started dealing with SEO management for the company I work for I was completely lost 90% of the time. To be honest I am still not always 100% sure all the time. If there is any one thing I have learned over the past few years its that there is no one thing you can do to your site that will get you listed higher in the search engines. It’s a combination of many things that will place you higher. There is also no quick and easy solution. Often changes we make to our site wont show any sign of helping for many months after they are implemented. It’s all really a trial and error game. The key for us has been to target as many keywords as we can, and to cater our site code to as many of our major search engines as we can (like Google, MSN and Yahoo).
