If you had £200 to spend on paid directory placement...

...which would you choose?

Hi
I gather that submitting to directories such as Yahoo can improve your Google ranking as well (as Google spiders Yahoo). Similarly I know that a DMOZ link (free) will improve your ranking, but are slow to list you.

So, hypothetically, if you had £200 ($350 ish) where would you spend it? We are UK based.

business.com $99
joeant.com $40
yahoo.co.uk £199

others? none?!

We are also working on backlinks and SEO etc.

Hi,

I would definitely plump for yahoo UK as this still gets a vast amount of traffic to the directory, and now the serps in my opinion are as good if not better than googles.
Depending what type of business you are why not try overture pay per click or adwords if you want quick results, start off at say 10p with as many keywords you can find and build from there.
Business.com in my opinion is not worth the money umless you are targetting the US market, same for Joeant.
You are doing the right thing getting links to your website, this will improve your position over time but please do not rely on google as so many others have in the past.
Have a nice steady stream of targetted traffic to your website from differnt se's and directories.

Ther are still a hell of a lot of free directories to list with in the UK, just do a search and see.

Good luck!

Bek.
