How deep will the spiders go? I have more then a few urls that go 4 folders deep....will spiders read that?

Is it better to be naming a page "big-widgets.html" or big_widgets.html?

Does help to even have your keyword as the name of the webpage/folder?

Sorry for all the Q's, thanks for your help!

Yep. Number of folders does not matter. The best example of URLs structure is dmoz.org

You can answer yourself. Compare SERPs for "MIG 29", "MIG_29" and "MIG-29". Which of them look like each other? By the way, files can have name with symbols of space.

Yep. Especially because if someone wants to leave your link for other people he often just uses “copy+past the URL”. You can see it in plenty forums.

Better to be naming a page "big-widgets.html" instead if big_widgets.html

Hi ya folks,
I own and run the New Zealand based search engine that can be found at [snip] The web spider I use here is written in PHP and will go down to a depth of 50 and it will take unlimited links to files.
The problem for search engines is that we don't want to copy all the files we find, we only link up to the ones that allow visitors to navigate your web site and to enable us to gauge a fair idea of your web site, so that people can search it.
We do use calculations to work out the balance between keywords against content, so that people can't really fool our robots.
At the end of the day someone is able to sit down and look at your web site, if all your keywords mention mig 29's and you have pictures of other things we can often tell the differences GRIN!
I have decided that this web site that we are using could be good for web designers downunder and so I am going to back off now and go and index this web site so that people from all over New Zealand can search and find it.

I hope my advice helps a little
Many regards
Dave Andrews

google will crawl pretty deep, but, the deeper it has to go, the lower the page rank will be, pending how ur links are structured. it may take a little longer for google to find it as well. just use a site map, or link off the index, ull be fine :)
