Does it help or hurt to have multiple domains on 1 ip address? Do any of the engines use the IP address of a site instead of the name? :/

Arin (the folks who hand out IPs), recently told web hosting companies to use shared IPs for hosting as often as possible, so multiple domains on 1 IP address is becoming the most common way of doing things.

Any search engines still keeping track of sites by IP address are likely so outdated that they're irrelevant anyway.

It's just strange because I have 3 sitesoverlay each other and I've been submitting 15 subfolders per domain per day. Yet while I have numerous Sessions active in the root folder, all my Subfolders do not have ANY Sessions, rather a few hits and page views....

Any reason?

I've submitted to several engines (Excite, altavista, google, etc, etc)
