I've heard that the new Internet Explorer blocks a larger number of pop ups automatically. Can anyone confirm this? Links to information about it?
If it's going to be increasingly difficult to display pop ups, would I better off using DHTML pops?
Rob.
Yeahhhhh, this is true!
Actually it sucks a little. I even causes some warnings before playing flash movies.
It comes with windows SP2, and i believe that it is not that easy to remove completely for the average user.
Well this is probably not that major issue unless most of your traffic is driven by pop-up ads.
G.
FYI the SP2/IE popup blocker is supposed to allow popups that are the result of a click, and disallow popups that are timed or automatic, such as from a page load/unload. I've got SP2 running on 5 of my machines, and each one is running better now than they were before the update....

Are both blocked or just one, and if just one, which?
Thanks,

I, and any other educated person, will never, EVER, click on anything remotely approaching this silly 'free-range' ad format. Web>human interface is still tacky enough (whatever happened to Tron?), there's nothing worse than being assaulted by crappy ads that attempt to 'trick' people into buying or doing something. It's the electron equivalent to a greasy used car salesman.
For all the dim bulbs who are now searching for yet another 'bulletproof' popup script, why not spend your time thinking of a -legitimate- way to make money, rather than leeching off granny's uneducated trigger finger.. flash in the pan marketing techniques that are soon to be extinct aren't going to give you a comfortable retirement fund.
I have a popup blocker by Earthlink that will block all popups unless I click twice. This only causes problems with popups spawned by a Flash animation, so in that case I just turn the blocker off for that specific website. I find the advantages of using that popup blocker much greater than the disadvantages.
I would suggest not using popups at all, and rather use banners, since banners are less annoying to me. :)
