Target="_new" and iframe links

Iframe links are followed by search engines?

The question is simple:
Are target="_new" less important from search engine point of view than the same link opening in the same window?

And, are iframe links followed by search engines or they are simply ignored?

I don't believe the target attribute matters to an SE. I use target="_blank" generously on a few sites with no ill effects.

I can't comment since I've never used them. Couldn't you discern this for yourself from your log files? (If so, don't forget to share what you learn with the rest of us! :) )
