Duplicate content issues with multiple site versions?

Let's say I want to have a low bandwidth version and a high bandwidth version of my site. Will this cause issues with any duplicate content filters, etc? Is duplicate content even an issue on the same IP or is it more of an issue where copying might have occurred?

Why don't you just disallow the bots from one of the versions?

Possibly. Would I still be able to run Adsense (for example) on the blocked version?
